Nemonte Nenquimo

Nemonte Nenquimo is an indigenous Waorani woman defending her ancestral territory and way of life. She is one of the founders of the non-profit group Ceibo Alliance which is responsible for improving the lot of her people through enabling a court ruling protecting 500,000 acres of Woarani land from oil extraction.  She has led peaceful protests against Ecuadorian government annexation of Woarani land.
