Mona Eltahawy is an Egyptian journalist currently based in New York. In November 2011, she took part in the protests on in Cairo and she suffers a sexual assault and broken limbs by the police. Eltahawy has spoken publicly at universities, panel discussions and radio shows on human rights and reform in the Islamic world.
She is a member of the Communications Advisory Group for Musawah, the global movement for justice and equality in the Muslim family.
